IPS Workshop: Lightroom with Corey Hilz

Learn how to use Lightroom to be in control of your digital workflow. This workshop is designed to make Lightroom easy to understand and put you in control of all it has to offer. It will cover your workflow from beginning to end: from importing and organizing to adjusting, sharing and exporting your images. Find out how to choose which adjustments to make, and in what order. We will spend most of our time in the Library and Develop modules.

Format: Three, two-hour sessions held at the IMF
Time: 6:30-8:30pm
Date: January 21, 25 and 26, 2016
: $60 for IPS members; $100 for non-IPS members.
Number of Participants: Maximum 20
Venue: Venue details will be sent to the participants
Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate

The workshop’s non-refundable fees are due by January 5, 2016 to secure a spot in the workshop (check to IPS to be sent to Treasurer Aung Win, IMF HQ2-7-219).

  • Templates and presets
  • Tonal adjustments
  • Modifying white balance
  • Recovering highlight and shadow detail
  • Targeted color adjustments
  • Applying adjustments selectively
  • Using a graduated filter
  • Retouching tools
  • Removing chromatic aberration
  • Correcting distortion
  • Noise reduction
  • Sharpening
  • Processing multiple files
  • Using Lightroom with another image editor such as Photoshop
  • Exporting images in other file formats and sizes

Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop with Lightroom installed so you can practice while the techniques are being demonstrated (practice images will be provided). Even if you don’t have a laptop, much can be gained by attending the workshop and observing the features and how the tools are used.

After the workshop all attendees will be sent a link to download a color pdf handout with step-by-step instructions, screenshots, and notes on the topics covered in the workshop.
