SUMMARY:April 2021 - Monthly Meeting + Virtual Competition
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, April 28\, 18:15 PM\, IPS is honored to host Blake Stenning for a presentation of his accomplishments and body of work\, followed by our monthly virtual photo competition (Theme: Open). The competition follows our EIC guidelines – please refer to http://www.imfwb-ips.org/eic-guidelines/ if you would like additional details. \n \nBlake Stenning is a fine art photographer whose visual aesthetic has been shaped by the pursuit of thematic ideas that combine formal explorations of composition\, light\, and form\, with meditative observations of everyday environments. Some of his work has concentrated on specific subjects such as chronicling the itinerant life of rural county fairs\, or exploring the sublime within the transcendent spaces of gothic cathedrals. At other times he simply allows intuition and chance to guide him\, resulting in dissecting scenes with his immediate field of view to inspire unusual juxtapositions composed within the camera frame. Blake’s work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows. In 2014\, he was awarded a Strauss Fellowship by the Arts Council of Fairfax County. He has also been a juried member of the Torpedo Factory Artists Association\, past member of Multiple Exposures Gallery\, and served as a board member and instructor at Photoworks in Glen Echo Park. \nBelow we are including selected images from Blake’s portfolio: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
