SUMMARY:November 2021 - Monthly Meeting + Virtual Competition
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, November 17\, 18:15 PM\, IPS is honored to host Sean Harris for a presentation of his accomplishments and body of work\, followed by our monthly virtual photo competition (Theme: Storytelling). The competition follows our EIC guidelines – please refer to http://www.imfwb-ips.org/eic-guidelines/ if you would like additional details. \nWe are pleased and honored to host Sean Harris as the guest presenter and judge during our November Virtual Meeting. The meeting theme is “Storytelling”: Everybody loves a well-told story. They can make us excited\, laugh\, cry or feel empathy for someone else. Send us your images  – 2 entries by member – that summarize a story and/or sequence of events. Each image could contain a montage/collage of 2/3 images that ‘summarize a story or sequence of events\, and each of the two submissions from each photographer will still be assessed individually for the competition. \nHere are Sean’s remarks about the event and images: “I have emphasized “could contain a montage/collage” because some participants will simply submit as they are used to submitting. It is imperative that the judging be done as always\, in my opinion\, and that is to respect the integrity of a single photograph. In their remarks about their images\, the winning photographers would then have a short opportunity to describe the relationship between the photos they’ve submitted\, and the “story” or “event” those images portray. It just creates a stronger or deeper mode of considering the photos to select for each participant. In this case\, the photographer is acting as an editor of a story\, as well as an editor of a single image.” Send us your best shots for the competition by Saturday\, November 13\, midnight! \nSean Harris is a creative and commercial photographer based in Bethesda\, and he makes movies\, musicals\, books and theatrical performances as well as his photography work.
